IN MY/HIS OWN SURROUNDINGS HE IS ALERT BUT CALM COOL & COLLECTED. WHEN OUT SUCH AS A RODEO IF HE ATTRACTS TO A BUDDY HE IS ALERT YET CALM COOL AND COLLECTED. SHOULD HE BECOME "ALONE" (WHICHEVER BUDDY WALKED AWAY) HE BECOMES VERY NERVOUS AND STARTS TALKING AND MOVING AROUND. I LUNGE HIM IN VARIOUS DIRECTIONS UNTIL I FEEL HE HAS CALMED. I GET BACK ON HIM, MOVE HIM BACK TO WHERE HE BEGAN HIS NERVOUS TWITCH, AND HAVE TO BACK HIM, MOVE HIM FORWARD, ETC. TRYING TO GET HIM TO STAND QUIET.

I HAVE TAKEN HIM TO SEVERAL RODEOS FOR THE PURPOSE OF NOISE AND MOVEMENT. THE LAST ONE, WHEN HE WAS TIED A BAND BEGAN PLAYING AND HE BECAME NERVOUS. I HAD WALKED AWAY AND ONLOOKERS FOUND ME STATING HE WAS TRYING TO JUMP THE FENCE. HE WAS NEVER ONE TO PULL BACK WHILE TIED. I GOT BACK INTO HIS LOCATION AND CALLED HIS NAME. HE TURNED AND LOOKED AT ME AS IF TO SAY TO HIMSELF, OOPS. THEN A HEAVY BREATH AND SNORT OF RELIEF AND A LOWER HEAD AS IF TO SAY, OKAY, MOM IS HERE AND SHE IS GOING TO PROTECT ME NOW.

HOW CAN I GET HIM CONFIDENT OF HIS SURROUNDINGS WITHOUT ALWAYS HAVING A RELATED ITEM NEAR HIM?

  1. There are several ways to do this.  Spend as much time with him as possible to create a bond, this helps your horse trust in you.  When you take him anywhere scary try to stay calm yourself, if you tense up, your horse will sense this and tense up himself.  Take him to rodeos, shows etc and work with him to get him used to the noise and bustle.

You can also buy calmer supplements to add to his feed, some are more successful than others, my horse is on a calmer and it has worked to some extent, he doesn't spook nearly as much as he did before.

    Good luck!

  2. show him that your its friend and you dont want to harm it. create a bond. and be calm and gentle when you approch him

  3. Get him to an animal doctorl.

  4. kick him on his butt!

  5. TRANQUILIZERS

  6. take him to white horse hill

im sure that will soothe him

if that does not work then tell him to go hoof himself
