  1. haha dealing with the same virus here.  except i put it on here on purpose to learn how to get rid of it, effects, and whatnot.

so far, what ive found is it comes with 2 parts.  WIN32/PARITE.A and WIN32/PARITE.B.  i havent exactly figured out what A does, but B attaches itself to Explorer.exe (windows explorer) so it can stay in residental memory.  it then proceeds to infect random .EXE and .SRC files on your harddrive until they are all infected.  If you run a decent virus scan (NOD32, not AVG or Panda or BitDefender or w/e everyone else says) it will clean most of the infected files.  for the ones it does not clean, just reinstall the application.  if you have any questions, feel free to email me at nismith8@gmail.com.  just put about parite or sumthing like that in the title so i dont delete it.

o btw, the only problem w/ the solution above me is if you scan it like this person is telling you and hit delete all viruses, it will delete any system files that are infected instead of cleaning it, and it will infect the new pc with all the viruses on your old pc.  NEVER PUT YOUR HDD IN ANOTHER PC TO SCAN IT!

EDIT: i found this key in the registry.

    start>run>regedit

HKEY_CURRENT_USER>Software>Microsoft>W... Version>Click on Explorer>on the right pane, right click PINF and hit remove

also, Parite does not damage the executables it infects, once its clean, the EXE is still in perfect condition, just a lil inflated

    : )

EDIT2:  DISABLE SYSTEM RESTORE!  the virus will infect files in there, and most antivirus cannot clean files in system restore.  im not sure what version of windows you are using, but google how to disable system restore in Windows x*x.  it should be sumthin like right click on my computer and go to properties, click system restore tab and uncheck the appropriate box.

EDIT3:  just got it cleaned out of my pc.  boot into safe mode (keep pressing f8 after you push the power button), delete the registry key, run this from microsoft ( http://support.microsoft.com/kb/890830 ) and then scan with NOD32 (email me for instructions on obtaining a copy).  make sure you have disabled system restore, reboot and enjoy : )

  2. Run Superantispyware, XoftSpySE, and AVG Anti-Spyware.

  3. You can take out your hard disk and install in another PC as secondary drive.

Boot up from that PC and scan using the latest anti-virus program on your infected hard disk.

    Or you can install CLAMWIN

ClamWin is a Free Antivirus for Microsoft Windows

that uses the GNU General Public License by the Free Software

Foundation and is free (as in freedom) software.

There is a portable version of ClamWin where it can be install into an USB thumb drive.

First use another PC to download Clamwin portable anti-virus

and install Clamwin portable on a USB thumb drive.
