HOW DO I KEEP MY PR CARD? (edited) and can i able to enter canada then?

i am a canadian immigrant since 2006 and this year, in 2008, i plan to study abroad. my pr card expires in august 2011. can i still get back to canada even if i've been gone for a couple years as long as i get back before the expiree date? and also i want to renew my card next month before i leave or when i get back before it expires, how long will that take? if you know the answer and have a site which gives me info please reply straight away...thanks! or you could email me at mackidee11@yahoo.com

i need to be out of the country for 4 years to finish my college. i plan to come back after my 2nd year for a month (summer vaca) then go back to where i studied...what can i do to keep my PR card and be able to enter canada again after my 4th year?

No, you can't be away that long as a PR.  Your residency requirement as a PR is you have to stay in Canada at least 2 years out of every 5.  When you have been gone from Canada for a total of 1095 days (3 years) within the 5 years previous, you lose your PR status, even if your PR card is still valid.

    The only way you can keep your PR card, if the college year is 9 months, that is total of 36 months for 4 years, you may just barely make it if you come back every summer.
