HOW DO I KNOW IF I HAVE GOT CAVITY WALL INSULATION

You can take a small drill bit and drill through the drywall.  If the wall is insulated, you will see some attached to the bit as you pull it back through the wall.  You can then spackle the hole and touch up the paint.  Hope this helps.

Oh give me a break.

Simply remove the cover plate from an outlet. Look to the left or right of the outlet box inside the wall and you can see it.

If you have an unfinished attic you can look down between the studs on an exterior wall to tell,or you can,after turning off the power to a light switch or outlet on an exterior wall ,pull the switch or outlet away from the box and open one of the knockouts in it.
