iPod can only support mpeg4 video. iPod accepts only MP4 videos,you need a professional third party software to rip ur DVDs to MP4 videos.

You have to get a special dvd ripper software, and you might get in trouble if it is copy-protected. When you rip the dvd it will be in .avi format so then just convert the file
