  1. You will likely need to have a parent volunteer with you. You can go to the shelter and pick up fliers and ask the people who work there about it or you can go on their website (if they have one) or call their phone number.

At our shelter, if your below 16, then you only wash, brush and play with puppies and kittens and must have one parent for every two people volunteering.

If your over 16, then you can be without a parent and you help feed, groom and socialize the dogs and cats. They even have an area where they can help in the Vet's place.

This might not be the same for your shelter, but as I don't know your shelters policies, I'm just going to tell you about mine.

    Good luck! :D

  2. check at a shelter, but I think you have to be 16 or 18 to do this

  3. At the rspca in england you need to be over 18. Just go in and ask to speak to someone about it /ask for the paperwork.

  4. I think the first step would be to call up the shelter and ask them if they are looking for volunteers. Then if they say yes, ask what their minimum age requirement is.

  5. you have to be over 18 to voluteer by yourself but you can still voluteer as long as you have someone that is 18 or older. but it normally depends on he shelter becuase i voluteer at the Camden County Animal Shelter and we are starting a youth program where people 17 and under can play with the dogs and volunteer by doing what they can do best.

  6. This really is going to depend on your local child labor laws.  Even though you are volunteering, you would still be covered with these.  Each shelter may also have a minimum on its own above this.  You should really call the local shelter and see.  Be sure to question exactly what chores you will be allowed to do at each age/experience level.  Even if you cannot work at the shelter directly, you may be able to assist with fund raising activities they do.  This will get you known to them as being responsible and when the age allows you, get in faster.

  7. Call local shelters and ask.  I'm sure you're old enough to help feed them.  They may want you supervised on walks, but I'm SURE they will need help.   Maybe if you're too young to interact with the dogs, try to set up a fundraiser where you ask for donations of food, treats, toys...etc.

  8. Private shelters will let you volunteer. First you should call and schedule a day. One of your parents will maybe have to be with you.

  9. Its a great thing to want to volunteer. You do have to be 18 here in RI and I think alot of states, to volunteer at local shelters. Although if you go to a privately owned shelter they make exceptions.

My daughter is 13 and her bff, volunteered at the Greyhound Adoption Agency at the Lincoln Park in Lincoln RI. She was able to walk the dogs and feed them. She got hours for her community service work for Religion class at school and she had a good time too.

Im sure if you made some phone calls, you might find somewhere to volunteer with animals. you might also want to try calling privately owned boarding facilities, they might need your help.

    Good luck to you.

  10. wel in most cases you need to be 17 or you need to have a parent with you

  11. Call a shelter and ask. Your parents may need to sign a permission form. Contact the SPCA. If they say you are too young or even if they don't bestfriends.com is a great place to contact. They are an animal sanctuary and they have places to stay if you want to visit and or volunteer there. A lot of families make it a family vacation to visit and volunteer.

  12. you can be any age. call up the shelter and just ask if you can volunterr
