i recently bought an Optoma DLP home Projector from staples and found out there are no built in speakers. and there are only four connections : VGA, RS-232, The yellow video jack (there are no red and white audio jacks), and an S-Video connection. they supplied me with just a VGA cable. I also bought an HDTV DVD player and i have no clue how to connect it and as well connect audio since they dont have it on the projector. I NEED HELP!!!! and is hdmi the connection to watch stuff in htdv quality? what should i do? should i buy another projector?

  1. You need to connect your home theatre to your projector.... And you will need the audio out going to your stereo or home theatre speakers or whatever you want to do. connect everything to your dvd player and have the output going to your projector and then it will project it but u need to have the audio out (rca) to a pair of speakers. Like surround sound speakers. The subwoofer is the main part where u connect the audio out using rca cables and then the others just with speaker cable. So now when u play a dvd it will go out onto your projector. You might need to switch through channels to find it but. (also all the av channels too) and its all done using your dvd player... And you can also just connect the audio out to a stereo amplifier if you have one.

  2. I think only two inputs can be made to get a display output on your projector based on your assessment since you are not using computer as player but a dvd instead, only the yellow video jack can be connected from your dvd video out to projectors yellow video input using RCA jack. The other is an s-video cable from your dvd to your projector s-video input (for high video quality output). you could choose only one between this two connection. Regarding the sound since your projector doesnt have any audio output you must source the audio from your dvd player directly to your audio amplifier or any audio output using rca jack also.
