I applied for a job a week later I got a letter in the mail saying that I must self certify my typing speed on my application. I specifically put 60+wpm on my resume. WTF, How in the h**l do you self certify your typing speed?

  1. I know you can take typing tests at Job Service.

  2. some community colleges and adult schools give typing tests, you even get a certificate to show an employer. Go find out the place that gives out GED's in your area, they should help with typing tests.

Or a local unemployment office might do it.

  3. There are affordable typing programs you can buy and are worthwhile the purchase in the long run -- Practice from home to keep the skills up etc.

  4. You could go to the local library and ask them to test you or social security department, sometimes they will allow home testing but you have to use a timer and carbon paper between the 2 sheets so they can see how many errors if any you make to deduct time off, sometimes they get you to do it at an interview, but if you do have the test at home you will have to have someone sign a statatory declaration saying that they observed you set the timer for one minute and that you did in deed type within the time and then count how many words you got right and take time off for errors hence the carbon paper, they can be very tricky, I used to type at 72 wpm and thats how they tested me, but used the calculator a lot faster than the typewriter lol!  Goodluck with your interview! :)
