How long has the chicken been sitting in the fridge? Is it past its use-by date? Although you can still use chicken if it has run its use-by date, you should be able to detect the dead body decay smell of meat that has gone off.

If the chicken has been frozen it is probably edible for up to 6 months, but 2 or 3 should be the max.

Well it depends... because if you see it... and it looks questionable it probably wont be good. Its usually good for 2-3 days, unless its frozen. Unless you see an odd pink color to it, its prob not so good either.
