Question:

HOW DO i BREED MY STAFFORDSHIRE BULL TERRIER STAFFY STAFFIE?

I have just been approached by someone asking to breed with my Male stafford, he saw him on you tube (tree swinging dog).

Basically the guy said his ***** will be running clear on Thursday so we need to do it then but he said I will have to help my male as they are dumb

Does this mean I have to put his thing in? He is 9.5 yrs old so I dont even know if it is worth doing if I basically have to force him to do it.

He does get amourous with other b*****s but am sorry to say he gets it all wrong and never manages to get to the right bit as he is too busy thrusting mid air!

Any advice would be greatly welcomed!

  1. I work in the RSPCA and 90% of the dogs are Staffies.

They are gorgeous dogs, but surely the high numbers suggest something.

Thank you for making the right decision and not going forward with it, I hate seeing the little guys stuck in kennels! x*x

  2. http://www.hsus.org/pets/issues_affectin...

Every year, between six and eight million dogs and cats enter U.S. shelters; some three to four million of these animals are euthanized because there are not enough homes for them.

  3. I would not recommend it. HIs female could be sick and your dog is like a grandpa... Pretty old. However I do know from experience the male will need NO help.

  4. 9.5 is too old to breed a dog, male or female.

Your dog is past his prime.  Plus, there's a lot of health testing to be done (hips, elbows, eyes, etc.) to clear your dog for breeding that would take a while.

Plus, female likely isn't tested either, for canine STDs, or genetic health.

    This is a bad situation.

  5. I do not let my stud dogs breed to anyone that contacts me that their female will be "ready" on Thursday.

You don't know if the female has been tested for Brucellosis, hip dysplasia, or anything!  In fact, I can almost guarantee that she hasn't.

No, you wouldn't have to put his thing in.  Your vet can do an artificial insemination.  The cost of keeping the female, and any vet costs belong to the female's owner.

    Again, I wouldn't do it.

  6. My advice is to not breed him at 9 1/2 years old. Especially if he has no clue as to what he is doing. How much is this guy offering you for a stud fee anyway?

  7. 9.5 yrs old is  a strange time to just start using your dog at stud.Any way  you may have to guide him but you can never force a male to breed. Also  you have to know how to handle the female, what if she gets aggressive? If you decide to do this you better have a written stud contract with terms on it.Is it worth the risk to your  male dog?Not to mention you?Only you can decide that.Added: By the way 9.5 yrs old is not too old for male dog to breed.A healthy stud dog can reproduce for many years.also the AKC accepts litters out  of a sire up to 12 yrs old and will accept after that if you have taken the dog to the vet for a sperm check to  prove he can still reproduce..

  8. Oh my jeez.

9 years old?! He is WAY to old to breed! Dogs should bred from the age of 2 years to 5 / 6 years. Plus, the stud and dam should be KC registered, be health tested (OFA, hip scoring, and more), and have won a few titles or be a champion!

You seem to have no clue about breeding. And that guy obviously doesn't either.

If you breed your dog the puppies will be seriously unhealthy and perhaps even die.

Do you not know how many Staffordshire Bull Terriers are in Dog Rescues, and how many are being put down EVERY SECOND? THOUSANDS!

Please, please! Neuter him. And, don't ever talk to that idiot again, he is no doubt a backyard breeder who wants to breed purely for MONEY. And if you agree to breed your dog with him, you are a backyard breeder too.

Think about the puppies and the mother...The mother could die during birth, she could need an emergency C-section, and I bet that idiot doesn't have the money to pay for that.

    ADD:

Yus, decline his offer! Neuter your boy and enjoy him! And you have a cute little Staffie. Be a good, responsible owner, and good luck!

  9. NEUTER YOUR DOG

your dog could be sick if the b , itch isn't brucellosis tested etc.

are you crazy....  Tell the other guy NO WAY

  10. that is so wrong there are to many unwanted dogs in the world neutered ur dog please

  11. don't breed him its not worth it.     He is already 9 and half years old.   Plus this person who approached you is nothing more than a back yard breeder.   And these puppies have a good chance on just ending up in a shelter and euthanized due to bad breeding.  Not to mention causing the deaths of other dogs that need homes.     dont contribute to bad breeding and pet overpopulation.    Leave it to the professionals (responsible and reputable breeders)   Please do your dog a favor he doesn't need this

  12. Fantastic... you're thinking about breeding dogs, yet have no idea how to go about doing so - and let me not go into your maturity level by asking you why it's so hard to type out the word "p***s".

Do your dog and the other moron's dog a favor by NOT breeding them.

Add: Yeah, you're right - all the adults I know refer to male genitalia as "his thing". Silly me.

  13. He's way too old to mate and you, and the other person, know nothing about breeding so should not be attempting it. You might want to consider getting him neutered too, something you should have done years ago. If attempting to mate with a female your male could injure her, she could then injure him and even pass on infections.

  14. JUST TAKE THE DOG TO THE ***** AT THE RIGHT TIME AND LEAVE THEM ALONE FOR AT LEAST HALF AN HOUR MAYBE IN THE GARDEN.

KEEP AN EYE ON THEM AND NATURE WILL EITHER TAKE ITS PLACE OR NOT.

THE DOG IS NOT TOO OLD AND IS CAPABLE OF REPRODUCING AT 10 YEARS OF AGE.

IT WILL EITHER HAPPEN OR IT WONT.

  15. Please don't breed your dog. Believe me, I love the bully breeds I have three of my own. There are so many of these dogs that are abandoned and in shelters why would you bring more of them into the world to just end up the same. Your dog is also pretty old to be breeding. Please have him neutered for his own sake. It can prevent so many health problems for him, such as testicular or prostate cancer.

  16. Listen. This guy is an idiot - don't go down this road.

Quite apart from the fact no one should be breeding if they don't know what they're doing - and your poor old dog, want to give him a heart attack? NO MORE STAFFIES

Staffies are my favourite breed. By try ringing round shelters and asking them what's in 90% of their kennels. Staffies. There are more than the world can cope with, and healthy ones are being put to sleep. Please don't add to it. Even if you find all the pups good homes - well, you'd be taking up the homes badly needed for those in shelters.

Think about it. Go back to the bloke and advise him to have his female spayed. Tell him to phone the shelters and discover the situation for himself. Tell him to look up 'pyometra' and 'mammary cancer' on the internet. Possibly all he cares about is money though.

  17. Personally, I think you are setting yourself up for a torrent of abuse on her by asking this question, as it is an irresponsible thing to do. Staffies and staffy crosses are currently fashionable, as are other bull breeds and rottweilers. Mainly among young people. Take  alook at the Battersea Dogs Home website, if you are a caring person, and see how many such dogs are struggling for homes. They are taken on without forethought, often have their needs for socialisation and training neglected, or are even encouraged to be aggressive. They are locked in small yards and allowed to become frustrated, then dumped in a shelter. Rescue centres are chocablock with them, the world needs no more. Have you ever heard of the inherited diseases which dogs carry? Yourdog or the other person's dog may have some serious inherited problem, and this means you should NOT breed. Health tests are essential but people don't bother because they decide to breed before they have researched, wrong way round I'm afraid. You don't just do it because someone asked you to mate your dog or is paying you.

Only if you dog was in exceptional health (which was proved by tests), had good temperament, and was has some amazing trait that would improve its breed should you breed it. And I doubt your dog is a pedigree (registered with the kennel club) so is unlikely to have something exceptional.

Seriously, both of you should probably have your dogs spayed and neutered. You're just thinking that it'll make some money, be a cool, or fun thing to do. You sound like a typical young staffy owner with the gang culture mentality, even if you aren;t part of a gang, its the idea that bull breeds are macho- why be a negative stereotype?

  18. Your dog has, of course, been tested to make sure he's not likely to produce pups suffering from HC, L-2-HGA or PHPV? And the *****?

This guy is a complete idiot. The chances of a successful mating with a maiden dog of nearly 10 & 2 novice owners is pretty remote. Do you think you can cope if this fool has got the days wrong, the ***** turns on your dog and one or both of them end up badly injured?

Finally, do you want your dog's puppies to end up filling more rescue places up? They will with a breeder like that!

  19. If you need to ask this question here it is a sign that you don't know anywhere near enough to be breeding.

Please go do some serious research on responsible breeding.
