  1. Follow this recipe and don't improvise:

    Hope this helps!!!!

  2. Do yourself a favor and make a mint simple syrup. It's okay to make it from scratch, and muddle the mint etc., if you only make one or two at a time. But that gets real old, real fast, when you've got a thirsty crowd, or you just decide to have a mojito party-for-one.

A simple syrup is just equal parts sugar and water, simmered until the sugar has thoroughly dissolved. Professional bartenders use this all the time. They make it up in advance and when it's busy they just pour as needed.

Making a mint simple syrup is easy as can be. And you can bottle it and store it in the fridge. When the mojito mood strikes all you have to add is rum, fresh-squeezed lime juice (a real lime press makes this easy work) and soda.

I eyeball everything and so I had to do a search for a recipe and I came up with this; it looks pretty good:

And do buy a good rum. Bacardi is widely available, but experiment with better rums and you'll find it makes a big difference in taste.

  3. mint, barcadi, and ice. Crush the mint using a pestle, mix in some barcadi and ice. Now they have mojito mixes where you just drink out of the bottle!

  4. press some fresh mint against the bottom of the glass with ice then fill the glass with ice then add 2 ounces of rum and fill with mojito mix.

  5. The receipe is simple. The key is to use FRESH mint and lime juice.

I had a bartender make one with with some kind of mint flavored liquid and the lime juice that comes out that little green lime-shaped bottle you get at the grocery store.  It wasn't nearly as good as one with fresh ingredients.

  6. A mojito is traditionally made of five ingredients: white rum, sugar (traditionally sugar cane juice), lime, carbonated water and mint.

When preparing a mojito, lime juice is added to sugar (or syrup) and mint leaves. The mixture is then gently mashed with a muddler(pestle). The mint leaves should only be bruised to release the essential oils and must not be shredded. Then rum is added and the mixture is briefly stirred to dissolve sugar. Finally, the drink is topped with ice cubes and sparkling water, mint leaves and lime wedges are used to garnish the glass.

    Yum!
