  2. Depending on what zoologist you talk to tigers can be classified as all one species broken up into sub species as 4d... has or they can be classified as different speicies.  You already have them named by previous answerers so I will not go into the names.

I will say that the names and number also changed over the years.  When I was a kid only two species were recognized.  The Bengal which included all the tropical tigers and the Siberian (now often called Amur).  All other tigers were local variants, races, or sub species of these.

Though it sometimes makes us feel better to split them up it is also important to realize that each time they are split up in legal terms and treatment it also splits the resources the government alots to the preservation of these animals.

  3. Bengal Tiger or Royal Bengal tiger (Panthera tigris tigris)

    Indochinese tiger (Panthera tigris corbetti)

    Sumatran tiger (Panthera tigris sumatrae)

    Siberian tiger (Panthera tigris altaica)

South China tiger (Panthera tigris amoyensis)

    Extinct Species:-

    Balinese tiger (Panthera tigris balica)

    Javan tiger (Panthera tigris sondaica)

Caspian tiger or Persian tiger (Panthera tigris virgata)
