  1. 6-8 years i think...Not too sure though

I do know that you will need 5 A's though

  2. In the US/Canadian system, you'll need four years of medical school, followed by an emergency medicine residency. Some are three and some four years in length. Then you'll need about five years' experience to be any good at it.

  3. There are several phases of education to get through....

    1.  Undergraduate:  most medical schools want you to complete a 4 year bachelor's degree while meeting the minimum entrance requirements in the sciences: biology, chemistry, physics, etc.  Some places only require that you meet those requirements, but those medical schools are few and far between.  Note:  You don't have to be a biology major... you CAN major in anything.  You just have to complete the requisite science courses... and their are alot of them.  Sorry.  Of course, there is alos the MCAT entrance exam which you take in your 3rd year of college.

    2.  Medical school:  you are looking at another 4 years inorder to get your medical degree.  there are two different types of medical degrees:  Doctor of Osteopathic medicine (DO) & Doctor of Medicine (MD).  The are equivalent degrees in terms of licensure, education, cost and knowledge.  And what would professional education be is they didn't give you a standardized test to take... only there are three of them this time:  USMLE I, II and III that cover your entire medical school experiences.

    3.  Residency:  While everything before is more generalized, this phase is what actually teaches how to be an ER doc.  Some programs are only 3 years long, more streamlined (and more difficult).  Others are more broad in their approach, but take 4 years to complete.  Regardless, you will have the knowledge to be a good ER doc by applying youself and working hard.

After residency, you simply have to pass your ER board certification exams.  But that doesn't take really any additional educational time, just preparation.

To be prepared, start thinking about college and how to be prepared for it....  that is the first step.  All else will build on those skills you develop in order to be successful in college.

    Hope this helps.    Peace
