HOW MUCH TAX WILL I PAY IF I BUY A COAT FROM AN AMERICAN WEBSITE?

but i'm worried about the added import tax etc if i buy from an american website. does anyone know how to work it out?

it costs $149.50

i'm not sure about the postage costs to the uk as they don't list them on the site.

You're in the UK?  I'd be more concerned with the ridiculous shipping costs since you'd have to deal w/ customs and custom fees (unless the United States Post Office is used, all other shipping companies have to use different rules and guidelines - although I don't know the current rules now since 9/11).

I wouldn't be surprised if the shipping costs are 1/2 the cost of the merchandise, they often have to ship via Next Day Air or Second Day air service since they can't technically drive over the sea if you know what I mean.

Income tax has nothing to do w/ sales tax.  Sales tax where I live is 8.5% and if I order (of course this is within the US info I'm giving here) from a company that doesn't have a store in the same state in which I live, I don't have to pay sales tax.  They would be obligated to charge me sales tax if they have a store in the same state in which I live.  Pretty sure.

Anyways, just ask them (if you haven't already):

What company will they use to ship the merchandise?

What is the least expensive way to ship (meaning if they agree to use the post office, will that bypass customs)?

How much the shipping costs will be?

Will there be any possibility of additional Custom fees from Customs?

Where the value of item is below £290 per consignment a flat rate of duty of 3.5% will be applied, but only if it is to your advantage.

They have 7% tax rates in Indiana which is where this company is based if you look at the Contact Us portion of the website.  I am sure if you click Add To Cart and go into the check out area like you are going to buy, they will show you shipping options there.  If you don't feel it is a good price just log out before finishing the transaction or call the phone number provided on the website for further details.
