  1. These are the hardest of coils to clean (in my opinion) But they can be cleaned if carefully done.

First make sure the unit power is turned off.

Second.. never direct water spray of pressure wash (garden hose) ETC, that is so powerful that it bends the aluminum fins of the coil.

To properly clean the coil it needs to be back washed... washed in reverse direction of the operating air flow. Because grass, insects, and nondesolved particals will be mashed deeper if not washed in reverse of air flow direction. You may have to remove the fan and lay it back carefully as to not break the wires if it is a pull through. Then use a product called Spray N Foam concentrate mixed about three to one with water. Using a hand pumped spray can ( Johnson Sprayer) slowly apply the salution  being careful not to get the electrical componants wet. Caution the Spray N foam is Alkaline and needs to be uses with caution as to not get it on your skin and eyes. wear gloves and eye protection.

Spray in a soft not bending spray slowly to let it penitrate and foam all the way through.

then using soft spray of a hose follow with water to rinse.

After washing a couple of times this way. You may reverse direction of wash alternatly till the foam and clean and rinses stop bringing out insects and particals.

Be sure to let the unit stand a while and dry after you reassemble before you turn on your A/C

  2. Get a coil comb.  It straightens the fins, and will get out larger debris.  For the small stuff, use a chemical coil cleaner, and hose it off.

  5. You can clean these fins by hosing them down with a water-hose. Also if you need to straighten any of the fins out you can use a small s***w driver with a flat blade . Just gently run the blade between the fins.
