I'M A SOPHOMORE IN HS, AND I WANT TO GO TO HAVARD FOR MEDICINE, WITH A SCHOLARSHIP. I REALLY WANT TO PREPARE THIS EARLY. WHAT ARE SOME THINGS I CAN DO TO HELP ME. (I KNOW EXTRACURRICULAR AND VOLUNTEERISM HELPS TOO.) I REALLY NEED THIS BUT HOW CAN I GET A SCHOLARSHIP? WHAT ARE SOME THINGS I NEED TO DO? AND WHEN DO I HAVE TO APPLY?

  1. Harvard gives no scholarships, just financial aid based on need.

  2. Why are you typing in all caps... jeez we can see..... Just make sure your grades are PERFECT and apply... The worst they can say is no...

  3. If you are in high school, you would apply for Harvard undergrad, not Harvard medical.  Also, Harvard, like the rest of the Ivies, does not give scholarships, just need-based grants.  You need perfect grades, amazing ACT, SAT, and SAT subject scores, leadership positions in clubs, extensive volunteer hours, and amazing recommendations to even hope of getting in.  Even then, it may not be enough.

Here is my advice, go to a state school for undergrad, and then apply for Harvard for med school.  You will save yourself a TON of money, and if you are going to be a doctor, then where you received your undergrad degree doesn't really matter.

  4. 1. Learn to type properly, rather than all in caps.

    2. "Volunteerism" is not a word.

    3. You need top notch grades, glowing references and more involvement than anyone else. Start now. Also, it's not just about joining things, it's about participating in them as well. Get to a point where you are in leadership positions and are constantly involved with both your school and community. You apply for college the fall of your senior year. At that time, you can also apply for Harvard's academic based scholarships. Good luck!

  5. If you want to go to Harvard medical school, you've got about 6 years to go.  You need a 4-year college degree to apply to medical school, and it's typically not from the same university at which you attend medical school.

If you want to go to Harvard for undergrad, be aware that they only accepted 6 percent of applicants last year, and everyone who applied had top grades and test scores and activities.  You'll need all that - and a way to stand out from the crowd of very smart people.

Harvard does not give scholarships.  Just need-based aid.

  6. I think before you even consider HARVARD, learn how to spell it...
