  1. No matter what...if you choose to have a destination wedding you will need local assistance. Local assistance comes with a price. Try checking out chat rooms or forums to see if you can get a "buddy" in the area to give you advice. That's about all you can do.

  2. I am a member of AAA, and I noticed in their magazine the other day that they offer deals on railway trips through the Grand Canyon, which also include meals and stays at a bed and breakfast nearby.

Try AAA if you're a member, or just do a google search for bed-and-breakfasts in the area, or campgrounds or hotels, etc., and then contact them individually and ask them what their wedding packages are. Most hotels that are in scenic areas offer something anyway.

BTW, that's a great idea. You're going to have a gorgeous wedding! :)

  3. This site:

    http://www.nps.gov/grca/planyourvisit/pe...

has a wedding information brochure that will be incredibly helpful.

From what I can tell you the minimum you need to do:

    1. Apply for an Arizona marriage license

    2. Get an officiant that is registered to practice in AZ to perform the ceremony (list of names in that brochure)

    3. Apply and pay ($150) for a permit to have the wedding

    Things to keep in mind:

    1. Only 1 site (Shoshone Point, has a $225 rental fee) is restricted to the public, all other sites have the possibility of foot traffic

    2. If you plan on having photography, you might need to get a separate permit for that

    3. It seems like only the South Rim has immediate receptions sites

The brochure mentioned has some great contact #s for you to get more info.

    Good luck!!
