  1. Flour can be dissolved in water while sand cannot.

First, you add water to the mixture and stir it thoroughly.(make sure the flour dissolve in water.

Second, use the process 'filtration' to separate the sand and flour.

If you need to have a dry flour, try to use evaporation to evaporate the water inside.

  2. To separate flour and sand, First add water, the flour will just suspend in water(NOT DISSOLVED). Then decant it, the sand will just remain in bottom, and the flour will wash through. Then if you want a dry flour, evaporate the filtrate.

  3. Several ways come to mind.  The end result will determine which is needed.

First...add water.  The sand will sink and the flour should wash away.

If you need to keep the flour, then you can sift instead.

Dump mixture into a pan and shake.  this will cause the 2 to seperate.  This will have to be done several times to completely seperate the two.

Another way is to pour mixture onto a cloth and once again shake it.  A sock will work well.  Shake the container.  The flour will sift through the cloth and the sand will remain inside.  Instead of shaking the cloth, you could also apply air pressure.  This will blow the flour out of the container, leaving the sand behind.

  4. A fine sieve with holes too big for the sand to go through?
