my cat( the younger one) had kittens yesterday :) and my older cat has been very good so far but she wants to see whats going on, she goes to them and smells them and just walks away as if she is just making sure things are ok, my question is how is the momma cat going to react to the kittens with the other one sniffing them, i know they should be hidden but she keeps bringing them to me and if i put them back she just goes on my bed and ignores them so i keep them in a cat bed on my bed and she is being a good mommy, but she wants to stay in my sight, she cries when i so much as go to the bathroom!

  1. I have had lots of litters of kittens (well not personally but my cats have!).  The mama has never worried about the other cats coming to say hi and check things out with a sniff.  If she knows the other cat well and they were buddies before the kittens came then everything should be just fine.  Don't forget that feral cats in the wild live in quite big colonies/family groups and nurse their kittens with dozens of nosey mates around and about.  Just continue to keep an eyes on things.

  2. well she will get mad at the other cat because they aren't her cat they and she just want  them to be in a safe place and she might be hiding them from  the other cat

  3. Many cats do a group fostering thing, where the other household cats take part of the mothering job, especially if this is the other cat's first litter.  If she's ok with the other cat being close by, it's ok.  But the original mother would be the only one that could feed the kittens.

It sounds like she's very not sure of what she needs to do, so help her along with keeping her calm and by the kittens.  Having a box with a towel in it in each room may help keep her calm and keep the kittens all togehter.  But make sure the other cat isn't going to get aggressive with the new babies.
