HOW do you remove index.dat from a computer???

I posted the original question last night and thought we had the problem fixed by running MalwareBytes (daughter at work got on MySpace) and now she is really in a mess. I keep telling her to call the hospitals IT people but so far she hasn't and so she asked me to ask all you smart computer people out there if its even possible to do it. At work that is. She had me up all night trying to fix this problem and lack of sleep and her not doing what I tell her to do is getting on my last nerve.

And please, try to make it as simple as possible. I am too tired to deal with this c**p tonight!!!!

I HATE MYSPACE and she should have known better!!!!!!

Thanks,

Phyllis

  1. Tell her to get the IT guys at work. (and it better be soon)

XP/VISTA Antivirus removal is beyond the abilities of the average user (especially if that person doesn't listen or take directions too well)

If she doesnt have administrator priveledges on this work computer she will not be able to remove/fix the problem anyway.

    Sorry.

Good website for detailed removal instructions is pc h**l. Just do a search for VISTA ANTIVIRUS REMOVAL. you will find it.

  2. ?????

There is no reason to remove an index.dat file. Just leave it. It is not a virus, and it's not the source of your problem.

Try asking how to solve your problem by posting the symptoms, and especially the error messages.

  3. You want to uninstall Myspace?

    1. Goto myspace.com and login

    2. Click the Home link (first link on the left under the banner ad at the top)

    3. Click Account Settings link

    4. Under Change Account Settings, click the -Cancel Account- link

    5. Click the Cancel My Account button to confirm removal

But I think it is the problem of the anti-virus.Shut it down first the beginning , change the settings for not running without your permission, or uninstall it in the safe mode.  And then uninstall Myspace. Maybe it is not compitable with Myspace.  You can reinstall ur anti-virus again.

Note; the most convenient way  is to restore your PC if you have an restore point.
