  1. when your tires are inflated with the right amount of air, it cuts down on rolling resistance, in other words, it takes more gas to turn a low tire over, then 1 with the right amount of air.

  2. It reduces the amount the tire 'bends' improving rolling resistance. When the tire 'bends' it transforms the rotation into heat. Which, in turn, waists gas.

  3. The first answer is correct. The whole turning rotation into heat thing doesn't even make any sense.

  4. Proper tire inflation gives  better road contact  for which the tread was designed.  Under inflation causes more resistance, which diminishes fuel economy.

  5. A tire that's too soft (low air pressure) has more rolling resistance.  If you look at a soft tire you can see a much more noticeable flat spot at the bottom, than on a properly inflated tire.  The higher air pressure make the tire more "round", and easier to roll.

  6. the more air in the tire the less rolling resistance the car has and the better the gas mileage, but don't over inflate the tire, you can run 32 to 35 lbs. of air safely.
