I like this guy-obviously. He's a good friend of mine. One day he'll be totally confident,sit by me,scoot close, etc...And then a few days later, he'll have this hurt puppy look like I broke his heart. How do I find out what's going on with him. He's really shy and I want him to ask me out...

tell him how you feel straight up, thats what i did and my guy is also the shy type. just tell him how you feel but dont ask him out if you know he likes you and if you tell him you like him he'll feel more confident and ask you out on his own but it might take some time but alest youll know he is bulding up courge to ask you out

Well, have you done anything with other guys in terms of flirting? If this guy sees you flirting with others, and he is shy, he will feel like c**p wishing that he was that person. On the flip side, if there is any sign of hopefulness, he will feel 10x better. Since you said he is the shy type, then he won't ask you out unless he is almost 100% confident in his decision and has a good feeling you will say yes. Just give him that extra little "push" :)
