HOw can I get started in coaching men's basketball for the future

Question

I am 14 and I have never been on a basketball team but I know a good amount of information for the game and I really want to coach but I need information on how to get started because I am sure there is a lot I have to learn before I can get started in the future

ya the 1st answer sums some of it up. almost every basketball coach was once a player on an NBA team or a NCAA basketball team. and most of the time they were the best of there time or got an honorable mention by some important person. you are going to have to play and it's good that you are looking forward to it.

go to your local recreation dept, ask if they need help. due to your age, maybe they will have spots for younger klids to coach or possibly assistant coach. thats all you need to do to get started.

Nearly all coaches are or were players themselves, and this gives you respect among players that you coach.  You should still get on a team and this will give you more perspective on the game than just rules.
