um you cant really, only option is to uninstall it,

start, control plane, add/remove program, look for AVG 8.0 and click uninstall it.

Just simply right click on the AVG's icon on the system tray and choose exit. Please note that your PC will not be under protect after your exit the antivirus program.

You can uninstall it by going to Start>Control Panel>Add remove programs. Then find AVG in the list of programs and click on it and it will open up the uninstall wizard.

If you want to just turn it off temporarily, hit windows key + r at the same time, and type in the window "msconfig". Go to the Startup tab and look for anything related to avg. If you find anything related to avg uncheck that box and then it will not run at startup.
