  1. Insert the XP CD into the CD-ROM drive, RESTART and enter the BIOS (if computer does not display "press any key to boot from CD) (most computers you enter the BIOS by tapping the DELETE key immediatly after the system powers on) and set your computer to have CD-ROM as first boot device. (if it isn't already)

    Restart your computer.

Press any key to boot from CD, when ask.

Windows will load files needed to do the install.

Press F8 to agree to terms and conditions.

Windows will search and find your 2000 OS, and warn you about having two OS.

    Continue.

When ask choose "format using NTFS filing system"

Your hard drive will now be formatted and delete the 2000 version and install XP.

    Follow instructions.

Type your CD key when ask.

Set your time zone when ask.

the rest is straight forward and will complete in about 1/2 hour, more or less depending on your processor speed and amount of RAM installed.

NOTE BEFORE YOU START: If you don't have a drivers CD for XP which includes sound, video, processor, ethernet, USB and other motherboard devices, you should download them FROM THE INTERNET and burn them to a CD first.

Windows XP CD's do have a lot of drivers, but may not have the ones for your particular hardware.
