  2. U DONT need a dvd player..unless it has some video.which i assume it doesnt..there are only files on the cd that will make ur computer go back to everything like wen u bought it.....all the rest of the programs u need to download again unless u saved them......o and btw maybe using limewire got u a virus..........ever since i got frostwire i havent gotten 1

  3. You don't need a DVD program to use the Recovery Disc you got from HP. This Recovery Disc is to format your PC and put it like when you first bought, original factory setting. What you have to do, is to place the Recovery Disc in the bay. Turn off your computer and wait a bit, then turn it on again. When you turn it on it should boot to the Recovery Disc, if not press the Esc key when the "whatever" logo appears. It should take you to the Boot Sequence Screen, from there pick the drive where the Recovery Disc is at. And it should boot to the Recovery Disc from there. After that follow the instructions from the Disc. Note: You'll reformat your PC and turn it to its original factory settings. So, back up any important files your might got, before using the Recovery Disc.

  4. The optical drive is a DVD-ROM/DVD-RW drive. It has nothing to do with dvd software. The software is for writing, and if you have Vista that writing software it built into the operating system. You do not need 3rd party software.

In any event,  software is not required to read CD/DVD disks in Windows.

Put the disk in, restart computer, hit any key to boot from disk if you are prompted to do so. Follow prompts to install windows.
