HP FANS QUESTION Why was Harry Potter's parents in hiding?

His parents went into hiding when they formed the 1st order of the phoenix. They were a small group who opposed the dark lord voledemort(?). To make sure no one knew of their plans they met in secret locations and having small children the order went into hiding to protect them from Lord V.

my guess is that they were in hiding because they new that voldemort was going to try and kill them. i also think that he tried to kill them because he found out some of the prophecy and thought he needed to kill harry...which he did. the prophecy said neither can live while the other survives.

Hiding? I don't think they were hiding, because Harry's parent never new about the prophecy. There was no way that they would have known. Although Snape knew this vital piece of information, he forgot to tell Voldemort about the part where neither could live part. He told Voldemort, and Voldemort had set off to kill Harry. you know about the mother's love shield. So technically, Lily had changed the prophecy, because one of them would have to die, but she delayed the prophecy of happening. She gave time for Harry, and Voldemort to make another Horcrux by reviving. So she kind of helped both side, but in the way, she helped Harry. So..i don't think they were hiding at all....not sure.
