HP Notebook Wireless Internet?

Brand new HP Pavilion dv5 1008ca laptop. Turned it on, set up the main stuff. Didn't add/install any other things. No software CDs. Built in wireless.

Now, I am trying to connect to a wireless internet router. It shows a couple of them, but when I try to connect to one it says :

Windows cannot connect to "ROUTERNAME"

Wireless association failed because Windows did not receive any response from the wireless router or access point. (BUT, I have another laptop, and it is connect to the router fine).

Anyone know how to fix it? And in simple terms please.. Thanks

  1. You bought it from best buy didn't you.My suggestion is restart your laptop and router and try again if it doesn't work return it

  2. check it is communicating with ur router by giving its ip address. for example for linksys router http://192.168.0.1 for smc http://192.168.2.1 if it is communicating no problem just change the wireless name given by u in the router then it will take. u cant call me i can give u remote assistance kardevi143@yahoo.co.in
