HP Officejet 4215 detailed information USB?

Question

I'm trying to setup my HP officejet 4215 but when I get to the select your HP device option in the HP setup assistant software, my device does not show up in the select box and I can go no further. I have a USB connection but it doesn't show up. What should I do to continue?

Answer 1

Unplug your printer and delete any reference to it in the printers section of windows. If its not there the better.

Restart your computer.

DO NOT PLUG THE PRINTER IN

Start the install routine. At some point the it will tell you to plug it in. Do it then.

WITH THE PRINTER TURNED ON

Windows should see it. If not try a diff USB port and see if that works.
