The Israeli tennis sensation Shahar Peer triumphed in her first round match at the HP Open Women’s Singles tennis tournament, getting past her Japanese foe Misaki Doi at the Centre Court in a comfortable two setter clash on Tuesday. The final match score

After successfully making her way into the semi final round of the Premier-level China Open in Beijing last week, Shahar improved her world ranking from number eighteen to number thirteen in the world by the WTA. This is a new career high ranking for Shahar
as well as for her country, Israel. Her previous career high ranking was number fourteen which the Israeli achieved back in June this season.
The 23-year-old Shahar is seeded number three in Osaka. The right hander broke serve on a total of four occasions on her way to a straight set victory over Misaki Doi of Japan on Tuesday.
In other action, the sixth seed Kimiko Date Krumm along with the seventh seed Iveta Benesova also advanced into the next round of the HP Open competition with victories over young opponents on Tuesday. Kimiko got the better of Laura Robson in two sets. The
final match score was 6-3, 6-3. Iveta, on the other hand, brushed aside Christina McHale in straight sets. The final match score was 6-4, 6-3.
Date Krumm after her today’s victory while commenting on Laura’s game said that she is a really tough opponent and gives the opponent a hard time on court.
"Laura is very young and has a lot of potential so I really needed to focus a lot today. I was really happy with the match and how I played today,” added Kimiko.
She made an impressive appearance in the third round of the Toray Pan Pacific Open Competition two weeks ago, defeating Maria Sharapova of Russia and Daniela Hantuchova on her way.
While commenting on the tournament venue, the Japanese tennis star Date Krumm said, "I love Osaka. I graduated from a high school very close to here and my friends are coming to watch me. The fans know me well here too. It is all very important and it is
a much different feeling playing here than anywhere else."
