So, I have an older HP PC that's running Windows XP Home Edition. Recently we got it hooked up to the internet and so a whole ton of updates came. We got to installing Service Pack 3 when the trouble started. As SP3 was installing the PC froze. I left it for hours and then had to do a forced reboot. On reboot it stated the installation was interrupted and rolled back to SP2, but something was missing cause after that I could never boot up to the loggin page. A blue screen would flash real fast and then restart. Then I get the options for Safe Mode and do that. I login and run the restore program and choose to restore to the earliest point it had saved. Well that started to run, but I don;t think it finished cause it blacked out then started to restart, but froze on restart. Now Safe Mode doesn't work. HP has a built in recovery program that I tried but that also didn't work. So now I'm stuck at it won't boot normally, won't boot in Safe Mode and just keeps looping with restarts. Any help, tips, pointers for me?

  1. Could be a problem with device drivers, hardware or software. This  problem can be solved by uninstalling new softwares, updating device drivers and making minor configuration changes . From http://fixit.in/bluescreenofdeath.html . You can also run a free registry scan using utilities from http://re7.info

  2. 1)Make a bootable windows cd.  I use something called BARTPE.

2)use bootable cd to get system up and running

    3)go to c:\windows\system32\drivers

    4)rename intelppm.sys to xintelppm.sys

    5)reboot pc.

If you need more help or a copy of the boot cd, email me.
