HP computer screen help question?

My kids have an HP computer and screen, lately, it is only showing half of the page, the other half is blacked out. When we open a program, we have to move the page to get full view. I have restarted the computer several times but not sure why it is doing the half page. I can't even get to the start menu as it is not showing on the screen. How can I fix it back to full screen view? Thanks.

Change the resolution.

Control Panel > Display

Make the proper choices according to your "Graphics Card".

If you really "goof up" reboot the comp in 'safe mode' and go back and change the settings to a lower one.

You said "lately", this tells me that at one time it was OK, SO,

The kids probably fiddled wih it and they don't remember what they did, except for to tell you,

I didn't do nothing, I promise, not me, sis did it, she's always doin' stuff like that
