HP wireless assistant not working?

I have a Compaq HP Presario V6000. starting in the last couple days, my wireless assistant will not turn on, the light stays orange, and it will not open in control panel. i am not finding anything anywhere on this so maybe one of you have a grand idea on how this can be fixed? i searched previous questions but i am not going to uninstall and reinstall the driver every week, that's just obnoxious and doesn't solve the problem. I'm calling HP as a last resort because they don't usually have any good answers. hope someone can help, THANK YOU!

this is from an email that i got from hp a while ago when i had a similar problem

To resolve the issue, I recommend you to uninstall and reinstall the

drivers for the wireless by following the instructions provided in the

below URL:

Uninstall wireless drivers from the Device Manager:

1. Right-click My Computer.

2. Select Properties.

3. Click Hardware.

4. Click Device Manager.

5. Click the "+" against wireless Adapters to expand and double-click

the adapters present.

6. Choose the Driver tab and click Uninstall driver button.

7. Restart the system.

Reinstalling the drivers for the wireless:

Installation Instructions:

1. Download the softpaq and save it on the desktop.

2. Install it by following the on-screen instructions.
