HRC’s Shuhei Nakamoto believes rivals at MotoGP are strong as well – MotoGP news
Vice President of Honda Racing Corporation Shuhei Nakamoto believes that rivals faced by their rider Casey Stoner are not far away from him in the 2011 MotoGP championship.
The most considerable threat for the Australian in title fight is Jorge Lorenzo of the Yamaha Factory Racing team.
Although the Honda RC212V has been very strong this season but the rivals are also pushing hard for the MotoGP championship lead.
Nakamoto said, “Honda has won seven out of ten races so far. Considering we only won four in the whole of the last season, you'd think we have it in the bag. But Lorenzo is a very tough competitor. He's not going to give up, and I think we will continue
to see a pattern of wins and losses for the rest of the season. A single slip could upset the whole championship battle.”
Nakamoto further expressed that the team will attempt every race with maximum concentration. The main goal for every race is to score winning points and avoid any kind of mistakes that could ruin the lead.
Now Stoner leads the MotoGP championship with 20 points, but still Lorenzo has the clear shot to lead for the title. After the Aussie’s win at California the lead was stabilised, which was earlier down to 15 points.
Nakamoto further commented on the physical status of Stoner and said, “Actually, Casey still has physical problems remaining from his crash in practice at Assen, and he still feels pain when he rides.”
The team is at rest during the short summer break and it will be a definite benefit for Stoner to recover from his injuries. Especially after a win at Laguna Seca, he needs rest to rehab and gather himself for the Brno event.
The Aussie rider will undergo a physical training session, as the recently returned Repsol rider Dani Pedrosa will also try to get back in perfect shape for the season ahead.
With the foresighted situation it is expected that the next races in the season will be fought between Casey Stoner, Dani Pedrosa and Jorge Lorenzo. The first half of the season has shown their strength to fight for the win. Let’s see how the other half
goes through.
