HRT announce signing up Dani Clos as their reserve driver for 2012 – Formula 1 news
Hispania Racing Team announces Dani Clos as their reserve and test driver for the 2012 season.
Clos has been one of the leading drivers in the GP2 series and his inclusion into the team will definitely be a positive for both the sport and the Spaniard’s career.
Clos drover for HRT in 2011 during the young driver test at Yas Marina, in Abu Dhabi but was not able to make as strong an impression as the likes of Romain Grosjean, Jean-Eric Vergne and Jules Bianchi.
“I'm very proud to be a part of HRT Formula 1 Team,” Clos said. “It is a great step in my career, something that I have dreamt of all my life and, finally, my dream is starting to come true. I'm very impressed with the job the team is doing; they're achieving
fantastic things in a short space of time.”
“The team has changed a lot since we met in the Abu Dhabi tests and I think it's a great opportunity and an honor to form a part of this new team,” he said.
The Spaniard was happy to be racing alongside Pedro de la Rosa and Narain Karthikeyan and hoped that he can work with them and form a positive team to improve his own skills and help the team perform better as well.
Team principal Luis Perez-Sala was in praise of the Spaniard’s inclusion in the team and said that he considers Clos to be a good prospect for the future. He said that this opportunity will benefit HRT in the long term as well as it will be for the young
driver as well. HRT have been looking to promote young drivers and this decision is a further confirmation of the team’s commitment to that programme.
He said that this opportunity brings a new chapter of his life and he would like to work as hard as he can to make his mark in Formula 1. Clos will probably get quite a few opportunities to drive the car in the Friday practice sessions which will be a good
learning curve for him in the upcoming years.
