HRT driver Daniel Ricciardo: I feel quite good to finish British Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
Hispania Racing Team driver Daniel Ricciardo has said that he is feeling quite good after finishing the 2011 Formula 1 British Grand Prix for the team.
Ricciardo made his debut in Formula 1 racing at the Silverstone race circuit on Sunday, July 10, 2011 where he stayed on the grid until the end of the race. The team driver mentioned that he is quite happy, as he successfully ended his race with HRT in Silverstone.
The Australian took part in the British Grand Prix in place of HRT driver Narain Karthikeyan. He made a successful run over the Silverstone race weekend. After the race, he told the media that he is pleased with his debut race result in Formula 1 racing
and that it was good for him to complete some laps for them in the first attempt.
The 22-year-old driver spent much of his time testing the new Pirelli tyres during the Friday Free Practice session. The HRT driver completed 49 laps in the Silverstone race and finished at the 19th place.
Ricciardo said, “I was quite a bit off the other competitors but I think that, as I learn, I will get a bit closer. I also need to try and manage the blue flags a bit better, it's not easy. At the end, looking at it now, I'm quite pleased with the result.”
He went on to mention, “My expectations for the next race are to learn and move forward, to be a bit closer to Tonio in qualifying and to try and close the gap in the race, I think that is a good target for now.”
His teammate Vitantonio Liuzzi was ahead of Ricciardo in the British Grand Prix. He seemed to be struggling to score some points for the team since the Canadian Grand Prix. Due to an unsupportive role of his F111 car, he could not make a better run during
Sunday’s race at the Silverstone racetrack.
After finishing the British Grand Prix, Ricciardo is hoping for his better results in the remainder of the 2011 Formula 1 season.
