HRT driver Daniel Ricciardo: Nothing has been decided for 2012 season – Formula 1 news
Hispania Racing Team driver Daniel Ricciardo has said that he is not sure whether he will replace Red Bull’s Mark Webber or not for the 2012 Formula 1 season.
He added that as far as he knows, nothing has been decided about his race seat with Red Bull Racing team for the next year.
Recently, Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko showed his interest towards the team’s junior driver and said that if Webber decides to leave the team at the end of the season, then he would like to prefer Ricciardo for Red Bull Racing for the next F1 season.
The Australian admitted that he is still linked with the Kingdom-based outfit, but it is also a fact that nothing is really guaranteed for long-term in Formula 1, so he is not thinking about his future with them at the moment.
Ricciardo commented, “The way I see it, there is nothing guaranteed for many drivers. Especially when you start in Formula 1 you have to make an impression. As far as I know, nothing has been decided for next year.”
He went on to say, “I've got to do a more than respectable job at HRT this year and then we'll see what opens up for next year. I obviously have a link with Red Bull, but nothing is really guaranteed for the long term.”
The 22-year-old driver joined HRT for the 2011 British Grand Prix. He drove for them in Narain Karthikeyan’s F111 car. After completing three rounds for the team in the 2011 Formula 1 season, he is looking forward to beat his current competitors in the last
eight rounds.
The team driver is aiming to beat his teammate Vitantonio Liuzzi, Virgin Racing Team and Team Lotus in the remainder of the season. He stated that he believes he can perform better on the grid as compared to them, if he puts all of his efforts during the
race.
The 12th round of the ongoing season will take place on August 28, 2011 at Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium.
Let’s see how Ricciardo manages his fourth race with HRT over there.
