HRT driver Daniel Ricciardo to drive Red Bull car on streets of Delhi – Formula 1 news
Hispania Racing Team driver Daniel Ricciardo will be seen in action on the streets of Delhi in a Red Bull car on Saturday, October 1, 2011.
The Indian Grand Prix is the first-ever Formula 1 race that will be staged on the Indian soil. The race is scheduled to take place on October 30, 2011 at the Buddh International Circuit.
Recently, McLaren’s Lewis Hamilton enthralled the Indian audiences with his spectacular drive at the Vodafone-sponsored miniature circuit that was built on the streets of Bangalore.
The event attracted over 40,000 Formula 1 fans who were there to catch a glimpse of the 2008 world championship-winning MP4-23.
“It's incredible,” said Hamilton. “I've visited India many times over the last couple of years and it's never been more exciting to be here than now.”
Following the phenomenal success of McLaren’s street demonstration of its car in India, Red Bull have decided to run a demonstration of its car on the Rajpath road which connects Rashtrapati Bhavan to the National Stadium passing through the famous India
Gate.
The country’s Republic Day parade is also held on the same route which makes this road of great significance which is the main reason why RBR have picked this venue for their demo run. It is expected that just like McLaren’s demonstration of its car, the
Red Bulls are also expected to get a really positive response from the people of Delhi and attract a huge fan following.
Other motorsports performances to amuse the crowd during this spectacular event include, free style biking and four wheel drifting.
Amid all the hype, and news that international celebrities like Lady Gaga, Edward Maya, Tom Navy and heavy metal band Metallica will be making appearances at this inaugural race in India, Formula 1 fans cannot wait for this event to begin.
The Force India team is also very excited for the inaugural Indian Grand Prix which will be sort of a home event for them. Vijay Mallya, owner of the UK-based team, has majority of his business based in India.
The inaugural 2011 Indian Grand Prix is scheduled to take place on October 30 at the Buddh International Circuit in Uttar Pradesh area.
