HRT driver Narain Karthikeyan confident for Malaysian Grand Prix – Formula 1 update
Formula 1 Hispania Racing Team driver Narain Karthikeyan has updated the media that he is confident his team will qualify well in the upcoming 2011 Malaysian Grand Prix.
He also mentioned that he believes HRT will surprise the people with its encouraging performance in the Malaysian Grand Prix.
The Spanish team did not take part in the Melbourne race as they were not able to follow the 107 percent rule of the 2011 Formula 1 season.
Karthikeyan said, “Basically, they don't want jokers to come in. We respect the 107 percent rule. We are a serious team. When it all gets kicking off; I think we are going to surprise a few people. I'm pretty sure I can adapt pretty quickly.”
Before the Australian Grand Prix, HRT driver Vitantonio Liuzzi told the media that supportive points are possible for Hispania Team, if both of its drivers make the new F111 car reliable in the Melbourne race.
Liuzzi went on to say that each driver always has a chance, to run with full of his efforts and can put high scores on the timesheets until the end of his race. Therefore, there is a chance for the Hispania team as well and they can manage their quick runs
during the 2011 season races.
He also believed that as the new package has been installed with Cosworth engine and Williams’s gearbox, it will certainly minimise the reliability issues of the car, during the race.
The team missed the final Barcelona test, as their new package was delayed to due to some technical problems. Karthikeyan stated at the occasion of car launching, that F111 will definitely be better than the 2010 car as the new functions have been installed
in it so it makes this season very challenging.
On the other hand, team principal Colin Kolles admitted that, the team managed to have a F111 car in a very small time however the team experienced tough winter.
He further added they are confident that the new car will be better than last year’s one and that is why they are looking forward to a successful 2011 season. Kolles also informed the media that all the salaries of all the team members have been fully paid
and now they are free from any suppliers debt.
Despite of all issues with HRT, Karthikeyan encouraged himself for upcoming race and said, “The majority of the work is done, but the fine details just go on and on and on. You needed a complete car or it doesn't make any sense to go out. We know it is a
really bad situation but there's no point in complaining about it.”
The team will start their race with the F111 car in the Malaysian Grand Prix on April 10, 2011 at the Sepang circuit.
