HRT driver Ricciardo says no issues to give seat to Karthikeyan for Indian GP – Formula 1 news
Hispania Racing Team driver Daniel Ricciardo recently reaffirmed that he has absolutely no issues over his replacement with Narain Karthikeyan for the Indian Grand Prix.
The race is certainly going to be very special for the Indian driver who will get a chance to drive in front of his home crowd at the first ever Indian Grand Prix.
Ricciardo is rather happy that he will at least be getting the opportunity to witness this widely anticipated race at the newly built Buddh circuit. The latter has been added to the 2011 Formula 1 calendar for the first time in the sport’s history and therefore,
even if Ricciardo does not get to race at the circuit, he would still be able to see its design and layout for races to come.
The 22-year-old who replaced Karthikeyan ahead of the 2011 British Grand Prix knew that he would have give up his seat prior to the Indian Grand Prix. It was part of the agreement that he had with HRT before joining them and hence knew it beforehand.
While speaking to PTI, Ricciardo said, “I am not 100 per cent sure what's happening but at least I will be driving in the practice session and I am always excited when on F1 track. When it's (making space of Narain) part of the deal and agreement, you follow
it.”
Before his association with HRT, the Australian rookie had been a test/reserve driver for Toro Rosso and it has been rumoured that he might join them as a race driver in 2012. Ricciardo however, has openly refuted this by saying, “All this is rumour.”
Ricciardo has shown great enthusiasm at being a part of the inaugural Indian Grand Prix which is scheduled for October 30 at the Buddh International circuit in the Greater Noida area.
The 22-year-old Australian said, “I still have lot of races left in the season and you look forward to many more things when you do not race. You look for support of the fans. It's always exciting to go to new venue and see the track.”
