HRT driver Vitantonio Liuzzi says the Silverstone Grand Prix will be difficult – Formula 1 news
Hispania Racing Team driver Vitantonio Liuzzi has said that it will be a difficult race at the Silverstone racetrack this weekend.
Liuzzi added that he is sure due to the high-speed corners of the Silverstone circuit, the race will become much tough among the strong contenders.
The Spanish team is improving race-by-race in the 2011 Formula 1 season, however the team driver mentioned that he is hopeful that they will further improve in the upcoming British Grand Prix.
The Italian driver said about the Silverstone track, “Silverstone is a great technical circuit that gives a lot of adrenaline to the drivers; I love the first sector which is made up of high speed corners. You really sense something special when racing here
because the passion and heart of the British crowd is huge.”
He discussed the 2010 Formula 1 British race and added, “The passion for motorsport in Britain is huge and really impressive. Last year, after an issue in qualifying, we went from last position to 11th place after a strong race at a track where usually it
is not easy to overtake, so that’s a great memory of this race.”
HR are still unable to score points in the ongoing season. The team drivers Liuzzi and Narain Karthikeyan told the media that the reason of their poor performance in the season was the unsupportive role of the F111 car.
The team has improved in the 2011 Formula 1 season as compared to its debut 2010 season in terms of their performance. They are still busy working on their car and making it better for the remainder of the season.
Recently, the team confirmed a Toro Rosso driver Daniel Ricciardo for the rest of the season in place of Narain Karthikeyan.
HRT principal Colin Kolles said that he is feeling proud and happy to welcome Ricciardo in his team. He added that he believes the Australian will give them better results in the upcoming race weekends of the season.
Ricciardo will start his Formula 1 campaign from the upcoming Friday Free Practice sessions of the British Grand Prix for HRT. Let’s see how he manages his first drive at the Silverstone circuit.
