HRT driver Vitantonio Liuzzi worried about upcoming Singapore Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
Hispania Racing Team driver Vitantonio Liuzzi has recently stated that he is worried about the upcoming Singapore Grand Prix as his team’s car will not suit the characteristics of the Marina Bay Street Circuit.
“My biggest worry is actually Singapore because our car will hate the characteristics of the track. The car doesn't react so well over bumps, kerbs and in low-speed corners and Singapore has a combination of all these things - I'm expecting a tough weekend,”
he said.
The Marina Bay Circuit is a street track and since the race takes place at night, it is going to be even more difficult for HRT as the conditions will be different.
Due to its bumpy nature, the track is going to be very difficult for the drivers keeping in mind that it is one of the longest races of the season and lasts for around 2 hours.
“We were supposed to have something in Monza but it didn't arrive and now it should come at Singapore, but we need to push harder because Virgin is looking more competitive and we need to consolidate our 11th place position in the constructors' championship,”
Liuzzi added.
Either way, such problems will definitely affect both of the drivers and are never healthy for a team. Such issues affect a driver’s performance mentally and he faces a lot of problems during the next couple of events in order to make up for a disappointing
performance which in fact is not the driver’s fault.
These sorts of performances make a driver look bad as well but this is a part of Formula 1 and if a driver commits to a team, then he is responsible for these sorts of blunders equally as well in some cases.
The Singapore Grand Prix weekend begins Friday, September 23, 2011 at the Marina Bay Street Circuit with the two free practice sessions followed by the qualifiers and main race on the next two days.
