HRT drivers Ricciardo, Liuzzi relishing 2011 Japanese Grand Prix challenge – Formula 1 news
Australian Hispania Racing Team driver Daniel Ricciardo is looking forward to the challenge the Suzuka circuit is going to pose during the upcoming 2011 Japanese Grand Prix.
The Suzuka circuit is one of the oldest remaining tracks of the Formula 1 Championship and one of the few to have a ‘figure 8’ layout, with its back in line with its front section using an overpass.
While talking about the circuit to the media, he expressed how he felt about it and said, “I’m looking forward to driving at Suzuka for the first time. I’ve heard from many of the drivers that it is a beautiful circuit with a lot of history. I spent some
time in the simulator and the first sector looks like a lot of fun with the ‘S’ curves followed by an uphill which, apparently, is a lot steeper than what you can appreciate on television.”
He further added, “It seems like a real driver’s circuit which is always nice, a place where you can try and get the most out of the car. I’m really excited because reality is always better.”
Ricciardo was hoping to keep his positive show from Singapore and make better progress at Suzuka, Japan.
Ricciardo’s teammate at HRT, Vitantonio Liuzzi is also a big fan of the Suzuka circuit and mentioned how the circuit requires good aerodynamics and setup to do well on it. He said it is one of his favourite circuits, and that the weather conditions will
play a big role as that might help them get a better result, and even though the circuit is a difficult one, they intend to put up a good fight.
The Italian also offered his condolences to the victims of the Japan’s earthquake disaster and its aftermath. In their honour, he will be wearing a special edition helmet named ‘Embracing Japan’ which will be later auctioned to generate funds for the victims.
The team boss Colin Kolles was also showing his disappointment at the disaster people of Japan were hit with, and said that it is imperative that Formula 1 goes back to Japan to show its support for the victims of the country.
The Japanese Grand Prix is boasting of top drivers of the sport and it will be interesting to see how the results pan out while factoring in the weather conditions in Japan. Ricciardo and the rest of HRT are looking positive and willing to put in their best
effort to make it exciting.
