HRT duo Vitantonio Liuzzi, Narain Karthikeyan aiming to qualify closer to its rivals – Formula 1
Formula 1 Hispania Racing Team drivers Vitantonio Liuzzi and Narain Karthikeyan are aiming to qualify closer to their main rivals in the Chinese Grand Prix.
Liuzzi said that he is not ruling out out-qualifying some of his rivals, including Virgins’ Timo Glock and Jerome d’Ambrosio during the Chinese GP following a promising outing at the Sepang circuit.
He added, “After the weekend in Malaysia we are lot more confident heading into this race. We are confident the team will work better, we've got a lot more data to work on and have a better idea of what the car needs.”
He further added that HRT have planned to bring some minor developments in their new machine for the Chinese Grand Prix. The team is sure these changes will help them get very close to their main rivals.
The team again set a target to finish their best race and also looking for getting more data on their car, in order to be better prepared for the season’s European races.
HRT has kicked off to a disappointing start in 2011 season, retiring from the first two races held in Australia and Malaysia.
With regards to Sepang race, Liuzzi retired from the course, due to having some rear wing issue in his upgraded machine. He failed to get supportive points for his team and completed only 46 laps over the race.
His teammate Karthikeyan also failed at the Malaysian Grand Prix, as he experienced some hydraulic problem during the race. As a result of the issue, he could manage only 14 laps over the course and ended his race without any point.
Karthikeyan is also looking for a better race in China. He added, “The conditions are very different to Malaysia, with lower temperatures, so we must try and adapt the F111 to the track and try and get the most out of the new package. The target for the
team is to qualify in a good position and, personally, I'm looking to finish the race.”
On the other hand, HRT principal Colin Kolles told the media that he is expecting a very nice race at Shanghai, as the weather conditions will be different from Malaysia.
He went on to say, “The track is quite impressive and we’ll be looking to make the most of our new parts on the car. We will have small improvements regarding the rear wing and, overall, aerodynamic improvements. So there will be small improvements which
are all part of the update package for Turkey.”
After very disappointing events of this season, HRT are willing to do their best in the remainder of the season.
