HRT finally unveiling the new car on Monday – Formula 1 news
HRT will finally unveil its new car F112 on Monday after keeping it in the paddock during the last week at the completion of promotional filming day at Barcelona.
After failing to pass all the mandatory crash tests of FIA, HRT could not be able to test run the car during the preceding pre-season test at Barcelona.
“14 crash tests passed,” the team said. “Chassis approved but the two that failed (by minor margin) prevent us to have the car ready for the first Barcelona test.”
Moreover, Manuel Franco, the correspondent of AS newspaper, said that the car’s chassis had finally passed all the mandatory crash tests of FIA and the team were expected to be test running the car during the third day of the second test at Barcelona.
Although the team first planned to make the debut of the new car on Sunday at the final test but in the end failed to do so because the car was still in the process of construction and later the team confirmed that the team would not be able to take part
on the final day of testing in Barcelona.
However, now the team had prepared the new car to make its debut on Monday at Barcelona for the test run for up to 100 kilometres. Moreover, in order to fulfil the restrictions of the test the team would be running the new car on harder promotional tyres.
“HRT confirms that it will carry out a filming day tomorrow, Monday the 5th of March, at the Circuit de Catalunya in Barcelona,” read a statement on the team's website. “The F112 will see then the light and will cover its first kilometres during this promotional
filming session. Narain Karthikeyan will be the driver in the cockpit on this occasion. Pedro de la Rosa and Dani Clos will also be present.”
Moreover, Pedro said that the car had been designed to use KERS technology but would race without it during the start of the season however there were chances that the team incorporate the technology, later during the season.
