HRT likely to reveal its 2011 car after the final pre-season test session in Barcelona
Recent reports suggest that Hispania Racing Team might not reveal its 2011 car before the beginning of the final pre-season test session that is expected to take place in Barcelona.
If everything turns out ideally for the team, they would reveal their new car by the end of their four-day session in Barcelona that is from the March 9 – 12, 2011.
It has been revealed that HRT’s new Cosworth-power F111 is going to be revealed by the team as soon as the new car is ready which the team is hoping is going to be before the final pre-season test session in Barcelona comes to an end.
HRT are not looking so good at the moment as the team has not revealed its second full season driver for the 2011 Formula 1 season as well. If they do not get a chance to test their new car before the season opening race of the 2011 Formula 1 season, the
team’s chances of giving a good performance as compared to their rivals Virgin Racing Team and Team Lotus at the first couple of races are very low.
Since most of the team’s are finding it very difficult to utilise the 4 pre-season test sessions to set their cars according to their requirements, HRT is not going to have even a single pre-season test session for testing. This means that they have missed
16 days of vital testing and it is going to lower their chances of setting their car up to the mark before the upcoming season begins.
“The car is in the final stage of assembly. We do not know if it will be Wednesday or Thursday, but the F111 will run in [Barcelona],” HRT said according to sources.
The people who left the team included engineer Xevi Pujolar who has returned to Williams for the 2011 Formula 1 season. Four other Spanish team members have also departed from the team as a result to side with the former team founder Adrian Campos.
On the bright side, the team has signed two vital staff members with them that is Epsilon Euskadi, marketing boss Maria Serrat and engineer Albert Fabrega who have both worked for the Spanish Le Mans Team.
The favourite driver for the second full season drive at the team is Tonio Liuzzi who tested for the team for the third pre-season test session that took place in Barcelona but the team has not confirmed anything regarding this matter yet.
