HRT not worried about Narain’s pace, as Liuzzi closing in on their second seat – Formula 1 Update
The news surrounding the Hispania Racing Team is that they are not concerned for the speed of their driver, Narain Karthikeyan, and have said that lap times are not important. On the other hand, the guy faster than Karthikeyan, Vitantonio Liuzzi will hopefully
get the HRT contract before the final test session starts in Barcelona on the 8th of March.
Talking about the speed of their only driver, Karthikeyan, HRT spokesman said, “We're not worried about the results of the test.” This was said after Narain was outpaced by the two drivers, Liuzzi and Giorgio Mondini were tested by HRT for their final seat.
Narain was outpaced by both guys by more than a minute. Yet HRT said, “Everybody knows that the lap times during a test is not the most important thing, because the teams use the test in order to prove and make changes in the car.”
Liuzzi is said to have a contract in a couple of days by HRT, as a media outlet reported. Reports say, “The last details are still missing but the agreement between Hispania and Liuzzi is about to be formalized.” Liuzzi was dropped from Force India, despite
having a competitive 2010 season, and Rookie Paul Di Resta was taken on board. He test drive for HRT in the final test session and proved his worth, as he was faster than Karthikeyan. He is still under contract with Force India, but he is still eyeing a season
return with HRT.
HRT are yet to unveil their 2011 car and they are the only team which is financially dry, as their team is still looking for sponsors for their new car the F111. The final test session will start from Tuesday on the 8th of the March, before the
season opener in Melbourne on the 27th of the March.
Although the HRT management has said that they will wait until the 2011 Formula 1 season opens, it is expected that the new car will make its debut in Barcelona on Tuesday.
