HRT principal Colin Kolles: The pace is improving race-by-race – Formula 1 news
Hispania Racing Team team principal Colin Kolles has said that his team’s pace is improving with every passing race in the 2011 Formula 1 season.
Kolles also mentioned that he is hopeful for the upcoming German Grand Prix, which will start from Friday, July 24, 2011 in Nürburgring.
The team principal discussed about the German racetrack and said, “The Nürburgring is a technical track which is characterised by medium speed levels and a good mix of slow and fast corners. The main challenge will be the weather in the Eifel Mountains which
is quite unpredictable just like at Silverstone.”
Talking to the media, Kolles added, “Unless the weather disrupts our race, the car should be adapted better to the challenge of our first race in our history on this track. Mechanical set-up is very important here, because of the understeering-nature of
this race track and the nature of the corners.”
The HRT principal further mentioned that it will be a tough race for the team at the Nürburgring circuit this weekend due to the technical nature of the track. He said the German racetrack is a mixture of slow and fast corners, so it would be difficult for
the drivers to overtake during the race.
Kolles went on to add that the mechanical setup of their F111 car is very important for the German Grand Prix due to the nature of the corners of the Nürburgring race circuit.
Apart from that, he admitted that his team’s pace is improving with every race. The team had a below par start to the season, as both of its drivers Vitantonio Liuzzi and Narain Karthikeyan were unable to perform well.
Toro Rosso test driver Daniel Ricciardo was selected by HRT to race in place of Karthikeyan in the recently held British Grand Prix, where he successfully finished his race for them.
After his first race in the season, Ricciardo is aiming to perform well in his second race in Formula 1.
On the other hand, his teammate Vitantonio Liuzzi added that the German racetrack is one of his favourite circuits in Formula 1 racing and that he always likes to race on it. He said he is looking forward to the German race weekend.
Let’s see how both of the drivers manage their race in Germany which is set to take place on Sunday, July 24, 2011.
