HRT team principal Colin Kolles: I am not crazy, I just have balls – Formula 1 news
The team principal of Hispania Racing Team Colin Kolles has recently stated that he is not crazy, and that he has ‘balls’ which according to him, most of the Formula 1 administrators do not have.
“Many of these gentlemen are only administrators and don't have balls. They are like bank clerks. That is the difference. And for that I'm called a madman or a lunatic or whatever. I do not know exactly but I can imagine they say: 'That Kolles again!' or
something like that,” he said.
Kolles is known for such stints as he has done some pretty daring things and said a lot of things openly which were quite critical as a result of which many have claimed that he is ‘just crazy’ at times.
He has been a part of Jordan GP and also became a part of Midlands, Spyker and Force India as well until the end of the 2009 Formula 1 season.
“I think others think that CK is crazy. I respect Bernie Ecclestone and he knows how much I respect him. And that's what counts. I have balls - because I say and do what I think,” said Kolles when asked what others think about him.
He became a part of HRT in 2010 which was the team’s debut year and since then, the team has been struggling to perform massively as they are still considered as a back-running team of the sport.
Other than that, the team has not been able to cope up with its rivals Team Lotus and Virgin Racing Team in terms of pace and HRT are the only team that was unable to qualify at some of the races in 2011.
They signed a pretty experienced driver Vitantonio Liuzzi this year though and they are hoping for some major improvements in the near future.
They have a pretty good setup, strong team and are now building up pretty decently as well. In a matter of a couple of years, we might see them competing in the mid-field of the sport if they take some big steps.
