HRT team principal Colin Kolles happy with showing at Canadian Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
Hispania Racing Team team principal Colin Kolles has said that he is quite happy with his team’s performance in the 2011 Canadian Grand Prix after a very poor start to the season.
He also mentioned that HRT really worked hard during the Montreal race weekend and that he wants better results from their drivers in the remainder of the 2011 Formula 1 season.
Kolles termed the Canadian Grand Prix as an unbelievable experience, as they made a good run for the first time in the season at the Montreal racetrack.
The team principal added that although HRT were a small team, but they are efficient and have an ability to show a strong performance against their rivals.
Hispania team had a poor start to their 2011 season, as the both of their drivers Vitantonio Liuzzi and Narain Karthikeyan were unable to finish their race due to technical problems in their cars. The team failed to deliver a good performance until the Monaco
Grand Prix. However, in the recently held Montreal race weekend, the team driver Liuzzi made a good progress among the strong rivals and finished his race in the 13th spot.
The team faced a lot of criticism at the start of the 2011 Formula 1 season. However, after having a good showing in the Canadian race weekend, Kolles had to say something.
He said, “Time will always show who is right and who is wrong. Of course there are always things to be improved and criticism is ok as long as people understand what they are talking about.”
He went on to mention, “The team in itself is a strong team with a lot of dedicated people who give their 100% and work very hard. We are a small team but very efficient. This is all relative. Some people feel pressure and some don’t. The fact is that you
have to push every day.”
The HRT team principal informed the media that they will start their wind tunnel programme at the Mercedes facility next month in July.
Apart from that, he added there are still a lot of races remaining in this season, so they have a chance to improve their performance. In addition, he said they can achieve their goals for the 2011 constructors’ championship in the upcoming races.
